Succinum

In 2002, Aepryus started developing Succinum for a small Wisconsin company named Kaztex Energy Management. They were in dire need of new systems, so hired Aepryus to develop an application that could run their natural gas transport business. Succinum has 3 main functions.- Financial HedgingThe purchase and tracking of client natural gas hedging positions, including mutual fund like programs that allow client pools to share Nymex contracts.- InvoicingThe generation of highly complex and configurable invoices based on the combination of a client's financial and physical positions.- Accounts ReceivableThe handling of the accounts receivables related to those invoices, including the automatic processing of drop box data from the bank.As part of the original agreement, Aepryus maintains ownership of Succinum. In 2004, Kaztex was purchased by Constellation Energy. Constellation, purchased a license to use Succinum throughout its company and purchased a 7 year exclusivity agreement that expires soon.Subsquently, work was begun on adding additional functionality to Succinum including a sophisitcated nomination and balancing system, which can handle the physical side of the business including storage. There were numerous other functional enhancements planned for the application which were short-circuited by the Constellation purchase.Succinum is an easy to use, easy to modify, highly flexible natural gas tracking and invoicing system, which makes use of modern architectural innovations, such as web services and distributed computing. The application is currently designed for natural gas, but the intention was always to generalize it to any commodity. If you are in the market for such an application, please contact Aepryus at the email listed in the E-mail section of this website.
